The majority of Americans fear outliving their money more than death. According to a 24/7 Wall St. article, people of all income levels worry about running out of money.
Citing research by the Allianz Center for the Future of Retirement, the article states that 64 percent of Americans fear outliving their money more than death, and 66% lose sleep over financial worries, regardless of actual wealth. “Americans with $100,000 to $499,999 in investable assets: 51 percent call running out of money a top concern. Among people with $1 million to $2.9 million, 39 percent still list it. Even 24 percent of those with $3 million or more share the concern.”
Council of Seniors Is Here To Help Older Americans
All of us here at the Council of Seniors want to improve retirees’ financial futures and ensure they receive their full Social Security benefits. We are working with members of Congress to introduce the “Social Security Restitution Act.” It would provide an estimated $970 one-time payment to every retired worker receiving Social Security benefits to help offset years of inadequate cost-of-living adjustments.
