When it comes to buying a car, there are so many factors to consider. Besides comfort, safety and budget, there are special considerations for senior drivers. Kelley Blue Book has reviewed them and come up with its recommendations for new and used cars.
Drivers want comfort and safety in a car that’s easily accessible. As people age, they may find wider door openings, seats that aren’t too low, and grab handles a real asset for getting in and out.
Visibility is another key factor, with the higher perch of an SUV or pickup truck being attractive. Power driver’s seats and an adjustable steering wheel help you get just the right fit behind the wheel.
Today’s cars come with a number of safety features such as rearview backup cameras, forward collision warning, lane-keeping assistance, and parking assist.
In its review, Kelley Blue Book rated these new cars as the top five, beginning with the best:
- Toyota Camry
- Subaru Legacy
- Hyundai Sonata
- Honda CR-V
- Kia Telluride
The comparisons obviously take into consideration such elements as price, fuel economy, and the safety rating of the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).
Council of Seniors Wants Social Security to Do What’s Right
Rising inflation is starting to affect the car market. That’s why Council of Seniors is committed to getting Congress to pass The SAVE Benefits Act. We have to make up for the Social Security cost of living adjustment (COLA) that’s let you down in recent years. By getting Congress to act, seniors can be reimbursed the $581 that was not paid out in recent COLAs.
Take time now to sign our petition. Congress needs a wake-up call to get behind this bill and pass it now.
