Kids absolutely love and look forward to Halloween. But it’s really not just for children. Adults can have fun celebrating the occasion. For seniors, it can bring back great memories.
People who run assisted living communities have a range of suggested Halloween activities for seniors. It’s a real opportunity to build camaraderie and a better sense of community. Caregivers can join in the fun, too.
These activities will involve people of all abilities. They include decorations, special foods, and games. Here are some examples:
- Decorate pumpkins
- Make spooky candles
- Create decorative spiderwebs
- Design spiral ghosts
- Make decorative garlands
For those looking forward to Halloween treats:
- Shrunken head cider
- Sweet potato jack-o-lanterns
- Dragon’s blood punch
- Devilish eggs
- Cheesy witch’s brooms
Finally, adults can join in these fun activities:
- Halloween charades
- Sharing scary stories
- Homemade costume contest
- Assisted living trick or treat
- Classic horror movie marathon
Council of Seniors Works to Build Social Security Benefits
Retirement shouldn’t be a scary time for seniors. That’s why Council of Seniors is a leading advocate for getting Congress to pass The SAVE Benefits Act. Inadequate Social Security cost of living adjustments (COLAs) in some recent years makes passing this bill a must. Once it passes, the missing $581 that should have been included will be returned to seniors.
Sign our petition right away. Let’s show Congress the growing number of people who support this bill.
