Each year, the United Nations conducts a global survey to measure how each country’s population rates its overall happiness. The World Happiness Report for 2025 was just released this March. Results are based on a three-year average of how each country views its quality of life. Six key factors evaluated include social support, income, health, freedom, generosity, and the absence of corruption.
Conde Nast Traveler reports that the top five countries are all Nordic:
- Finland
- Denmark
- Iceland
- Sweden
- Netherlands
This marks eight years in a row that Finland has taken the top rating. Interestingly enough, the United States wound up rated number 24. One factor hurting the American rating was a high number of “deaths of despair” (suicide and substance abuse). Moving into the top 10 rankings were Costa Rica at number 6 and Mexico at number 10.
Council of Seniors Works to Get More Help for Seniors
Seniors can relax more in retirement with additional income. That’s why Council of Seniors is working diligently to get Congress to pass The SAVE Benefits Act. You need this legislation because the annual Social Security cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) has fallen short in recent years. If we succeed, the $581 missing from seniors’ benefits for years will be returned.
