As we age, the risk of developing certain medical conditions increases. For many diseases, early detection and early intervention are critical. That’s one of the reasons it’s important to discuss any health concerns you have with your physician.
The elder care specialists at Coast Care came up with a list of seven important questions aging adults should ask their doctor:
- Are there any vaccines you recommend I get?
- Should I be taking any supplements or vitamins?
- What kind of exercises are safe?
- Am I at a healthy weight?
- How can I lower my risk of dementia?
- Are there ways to reduce the risk of fractures?
- Do I need to take all these medications?
As you age, your health needs may change, so your medications, supplements, and vitamins may also need to be altered. Keeping a good weight will depend on having the right nutrition, so your doctor should be aware of your diet so adjustments can be made there, too.
Remember, your doctor is your partner in wellness. Maintaining good communication is critical to staying physically and mentally fit throughout your golden years.
We Want You to Have a Healthy Retirement
Here at Council of Seniors, we’re working diligently to get Congress to pass The SAVE Benefits Act. You need this bill to make up for Social Security cost-of-living adjustments (COLAs) that haven’t kept up with inflation in several recent years. The amount of $581 was withheld from seniors, and this bill will ensure that the money is returned.
Sign our petition right away to help us show Congress the growing number of people supporting this bill.
