If you’ve never considered moving overseas during retirement, you might want to think about it. The Visual Capitalist recently shared the results of the 2025 Natixis Global Retirement Index, which ranked countries across four categories (finances, material well being, health, and quality of life) to determine the 25 Best Countries to Retire.
The United States ranked #21, only above South Korea, Finland, Slovakia, and Cyprus. Canada ranked #20.
Europe dominated the rankings, taking nine of the top ten spots. Those went to Norway at #1, followed by Ireland, Switzerland, Iceland, Denmark, the Netherlands, Australia, Germany, Luxembourg, and Slovenia.
So, don’t be surprised if you hear of more retirees seeking fjords and the Northern Lights over palm trees and warm weather.
Council of Seniors Wants Retirees to Get the Money They Earned
We want all seniors to be able to afford the retirement they rightfully deserve — and that means making sure retirees receive the money they should have gotten years ago. All of us at the Council of Seniors are working hard to get Congress to passThe SAVE Benefits Act. This crucial bill will put $581 back in seniors’ pockets to make up for Social Security cost-of-living adjustments that were far too low for years.
