
Retirees looking for a new adventure during their golden years often consider moving overseas. According to Travel & Leisure, some seniors are “looking beyond their home countries in search of a place that offers not just beauty and affordability, but peace of mind.”
For that reason, safety tends to be a top priority. The article cites findings by International Living, which ranked the 10 safest places to retire in 2026. To compile the list, it used global safety rankings, including the Global Peace Index, as well as comments from expats.
Portugal was named the safest country for retirees, followed by Ireland, Malaysia, Spain, Croatia, Italy, Greece, Montenegro, Vietnam, and Costa Rica.
