For seniors who live alone with mobility issues or can no longer drive, a meal delivery service may be a good option for getting nutritious and healthy meals.

Consumer Affairs has reviewed the options and has recommendations for meal delivery services that can meet your needs. Those seniors who still enjoy cooking can get meal kits with all the necessary ingredients and recipes. Others can order pre-made meals to be refrigerated or frozen for reheating later.

These five options can be explored to determine if they might provide what you need:

  • Silver Cuisine by BistroMD
  • Hello Fresh
  • Diet-To-Go
  • Magic Kitchen
  • Mom’s Meals

Services are priced on a per-meal basis, ranging from $6 to $15 per serving. For breakfasts and snacks, the charge is usually under $10. Some firms offer seniors discounts.

These fresh, tasty meal alternatives to supplement groceries may be just the ticket for homebound seniors.

Council of Seniors Wants to Give You More Financial Resources

Extra money can help meet rising food costs. That’s why Council of Seniors believes passage of The SAVE Benefits Act must be a priority for Congress. This bill is needed to recover what should have been in recent Social Security cost of living adjustments (COLAs). Once it passes, the missing $581 will be returned to eligible seniors.

If you sign our petition right away, you’ll join a growing number of Americans showing Congress how many people support this bill.
