Retirees could see an above-average Social Security cost-of-living adjustment in 2027. Early predictions are that it will be around 3.8 percent — that amounts to an additional $79 per month on average.
An article by Yahoo! Finance says retirees in some states could see even bigger benefit checks. That’s largely because they have higher-than-average incomes. It estimates that residents in Connecticut, New Jersey, New Hampshire, Delaware, Maryland, Washington, Minnesota, Massachusetts, Michigan, and Utah could see the biggest boosts.
The actual COLA won’t be known until October. But it’s certainly trending higher than this year’s 2.8 percent.
Council of Seniors is Here to Help Older Americans
Older Americans worked long and hard and deserve to live a comfortable retirement free from financial strain.
All of us here at the Council of Seniors want to improve retirees’ financial futures – and that starts with Congress enacting The SAVE Benefits Act. The passage of this bill can make up for Social Security cost-of-living adjustments (COLAs) that have let you down in recent years. If it passes, $581 will be returned to eligible seniors.
