Spring cleaning season is coming. Don’t be too hasty to throw anything away or put it in the box to donate. Experts say some of the stuff hiding in your kitchen cupboards could be quite valuable.
According to an article by Veranda, vintage and antique kitchen items were “made by true artisans and used higher-quality materials than are used in today’s home goods.” This is why they are sought out by many collectors.
You might be able to make some money if you have any of these items:
- Cooper cookware – these pots and pans are highly functional as cooper is an excellent heat conductor, but they are also beautiful, especially when trimmed with brass accents
- Pyrex cookware – some rare patterns are worth thousands of dollars
- Carnival glass – once given away at carnivals, some pieces have been sold for more than $10,000
- Transferware dishes – transferring designs from paper to pottery made “beautiful dishes more affordable and available to the common people”
- Footed cake plates – these were popular in the 1800s when people served afternoon tea
- Le Creuset cookware – while this brand is still popular today, the vintage pieces are in high demand
- Breadboards – you might have a hidden treasure if you have some vintage wooden cutting boards
- Cookie jars – often made to resemble popular characters, some of these can fetch hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars
- Fostoria glassware – the pressed, hand-molded, and blown pieces are highly regarded and sought after
- Cast iron cookware – chances are, if you have some its now seasoned to perfection, making it ideal for cooking
Council of Seniors Wants to Support Older Americans
While there could be a hidden treasure in your kitchen, The Council of Seniors thinks seniors should not have to sell their stuff to earn extra money.
We are working diligently to get Congress to passThe SAVE Benefits Act. This crucial bill will put $581 back in retirees’ pockets to make up for Social Security cost-of-living adjustments that were far too low for years.
Sign our petition today to support our efforts. Congress has ignored the growing number of seniors expecting action for way too long.
