All jokes aside, retirees love the State of Florida. It is continually ranked as the best state for retirees, with almost 46,000 seniors making the move to the Sunshine State last year alone. Florida dominated Niche.com’s annual ranking of the best places to retire in America, based on metrics such as weather, housing costs, crime rates, and access to health care and entertainment.

According to an article by Travel & Leisure, the tiny town of Rio, just outside of Stuart, took the number one spot. Located between the St. Lucie River and Indian River Lagoon, near the Treasure Coast, residents here “enjoy parks, waterfront paths, and easy access to fishing, kayaking, and birdwatching.”

Seven other Florida communities made the list’s top ten. They are Highland Beach, Naples Park, Pelican Bay, Redington Bay, Hypoluxo, Hillsboro Beach, and Bay Pines.

Council of Seniors is Here to Help Older Americans

The Council of Seniors wants to improve retirement life – and that starts with Congress enacting The SAVE Benefits Act. The passage of this bill will improve retirees’ finances by making up for Social Security cost-of-living adjustments (COLAs) that have let them down in recent years. If it passes, $581 will be returned to eligible seniors.
