We’ve all heard, “There is no free lunch.” But you should know there are many free services and benefits you can access to help stretch your dollars. Why pay for things and help you can get for free?

Editors at U.S. News & World Report have discovered nine in-person or online freebies that are worth checking out:

  1. Credit card perks and benefits
  2. Public library programs and services
  3. Money management phone apps
  4. Travel agents
  5. Hotel concierges
  6. Small business advice
  7. Personal fitness trainers at health clubs
  8. Budget and credit counselors
  9. Tax preparation pros

All it takes is a little digging around to find resources in your community that can ease the strain on your budget. Finding the right help will mean you won’t have to cut expenses on any essentials. Some of that help may be readily available from your local, state, or federal government. Don’t be shy about asking for any government services that are free and paid by your tax dollars.

You Should Get the Most Out of Retirement

Pressing economic times make extra retirement income even more critical. Here at  Council of Seniors, we’re dedicated to getting Congress to pass The SAVE Benefits Act. The annual Social Security cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) has been inadequate in recent years. The passage of this bill will ensure this money is returned. Seniors shouldn’t have to rely on freebies to come up with extra change.
