While some might dread turning 50, thinking they are entering their senior years, it’s not all bad. Reaching 50 suddenly makes you eligible for all sorts of free merchandise and benefits. The AARP advises you to undertake research to learn about all the great deals open to people 50 and over.

Some offers might come with conditions like having to sign up for a membership or downloading an app to access the offers. But there are plenty of freebies you can get by just asking for them. Restaurant chains like Chili’s, Olive Garden, Benihana, The Spaghetti Warehouse, Houlihan’s, and Krispy Kreme cater to those 50 and older with special birthday offers. Proflowers gives people 50 and up a break of 25 percent sitewide.

Discounts or free merchandise are not limited to national chains. Be sure to inquire at local merchants such as restaurants, banks, and pharmacies to see what is available.

Council of Seniors Wants Senior Life to be More Enjoyable

More retirement income and senior discounts are welcomed by everyone. At Council of Seniors, we’re committed to getting Congress to pass The SAVE Benefits Act. We need action on this bill to make up for insufficient annual Social Security cost-of-living adjustments (COLAs) that short-changed recipients. If this legislation passes, the missing $581 that should’ve been included in seniors’ benefits will come their way.

Sign our petition without delay to show Congress how many people support this bill.
