For seniors who’ve been cooped up and less active in winter, spring brings a time to get back to doing more healthy things.
There are six ways seniors can promote their overall health once spring arrives.
First, get out in the garden. Gardening gives you an opportunity to tone up muscles and breathe fresh air. Being back in the warm sunshine also helps give you vitamin D, which builds stronger bones.
Better weather means you can get out and walk in nature again. Try to do it every day you can. You’ll feel more energized, and it will improve your mood.
Getting that garden going again can give you a chance to enjoy a wide range of seasonal vegetables and fruits, which will improve your diet and provide more nutrition.
On the downside, spring can bring seasonal allergies. So those of you who suffer from them, keep your windows and doors closed to keep pollen out.
No matter if you’re walking or gardening, always make sure you stay hydrated. Drinking more water is good for your overall well-being.
Council of Seniors Wants You to Enjoy a Healthy Retirement
Here at Council of Seniors, we’re dedicated and focused on getting Congress to pass The SAVE Benefits Act. This bill is necessary to make up for inadequate Social Security cost of living adjustments (COLAs) paid out over a series of years. If it passes, eligible seniors will be reimbursed for the missing $581.
