Most people recognize fresh fruit should be part of a good diet. Dietitians recommend eating at least 1.5 to 2 cups of fruit a day, while 4 to 5 servings provide the optimal health benefits. Fruits promote good overall health, good digestion, proper hydration, improved heart health, and a mood boost.

Good Housekeeping surveyed top nutritionists to get their take on the healthiest fruits available. Here are the top 10 selected:

  1. Papaya
  2. Apricot
  3. Watermelon
  4. Apples
  5. Pears
  6. Mangoes
  7. Kiwis
  8. Bananas
  9. Orange
  10. Cherries

Other healthy fruits include grapes, guava, berries, grapefruit, avocados (yes, they are a fruit), plums, lemons and limes, raspberries, pomegranates, pineapple, and figs.

Your Retirement Should Be Healthy and Fulfilling

More retirement income will help seniors eat healthier. That’s one reason why here at Council of Seniors, we’re working hard to get Congress to pass The SAVE Benefits Act. This legislation can help make up for annual Social Security cost-of-living adjustments (COLAs) that have been inadequate in recent years. Once it passes, seniors will recover the $581 missing from their benefits.

Please sign our petition right away. Encourage your friends and neighbors to help, too! With your support, we’ll get a step closer to returning this money to seniors.
