Many Americans on vacation like to find cities that are walkable and welcoming to visitors. The ability to sample the local culture while getting healthy exercise is a great attraction for tourists. USA TODAY convened a group of travel experts to nominate cities that offer the best walkability. Editors then narrowed the field and asked readers to vote based on their experiences.
The results include some of our largest metropolises as well as medium to small size cities. Here at the American destinations selected in the top 10:
- Philadelphia
- Providence, Rhode Island
- Key West, Florida
- St. Augustine, Florida
- New Orleans
- Boston
- Chicago
- New York City
- Chattanooga, Tennessee
- St. Louis, Missouri
They all offer a wide variety of cultural attractions, great dining, and comfortable lodging. Each has its own personality and unique culture. They’re very pedestrian-friendly, with ample sidewalks connecting different parts of town.
You Deserve Better Social Security Benefits
Seniors can get out and enjoy life more with extra income. That’s just one reason why Council of Seniors is intently focused on getting Congress to pass The SAVE Benefits Act. Because the annual Social Security cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) has often lagged with inflation, this bill is a must. The amount of $581 was withheld from seniors, and it’s time for this money to be returned.
Please sign our petition without delay. With your support, we can succeed in returning this money to seniors.
