U.S. News & World Report has identified 26 places in 10 states that offer wonderful year-round weather for seniors who want to retire in a mild climate. The main criteria are having an average January low temperature above 32 degrees and an average July high under 90 degrees.

Not surprisingly, 13 locations are on the West Coast and 4 are in Hawaii. They range in size from cities as large as Los Angeles and San Francisco to state capitols like Salem, Oregon, and Olympia, Washington.

Other ideal weather spots are found on the East Coast, including 7 in North Carolina, South Carolina, and Florida.  The only inland location is Atlanta, Georgia. A Gulf Coast spot is Galveston, Texas.

Of course, these cities and towns vary in terms of cost of living, crime rate, and access to healthcare that are prime concerns for retirees. But for those looking to escape brutal winters or sweltering summers, a place for everyone can be found on the list.

Council of Seniors Wants to Recover Money You’ve Been Missing

Nice weather can be enhanced with extra income to enjoy it. That’s why we at Council of Seniors want Congress to pass The SAVE Benefits Act. Let’s face it. This bill is critically needed to make up for inadequate Social Security COLAs in recent years. Its passage will result in reimbursement of the $581 that was missing in previous COLAs.

Please take time now to sign our petition. Together, we can urge Congress to meet their responsibility to seniors. The participation of folks like you could make all the difference.
