As gas prices keep climbing and inflation continues, there are common sense ways you can save money at the gas pump. Financial guru and radio host Dave Ramsey provides sound advice on how you can trim that gas bill.

First, think about your trip habits. Make fewer trips by consolidating errands, and tie shopping stops in with your commuting.

If you do significant highway driving, use your cruise control to keep a steady speed. By doing so, you can save up to 7 percent on gas mileage. One thing many drivers overlook is to check tire pressure. Under-inflated tires affect gas mileage. Know what your recommended pressure is and keep it there.

Carpooling has always been a good idea, whether commuting or going to your kids’ school and sports events. Check with friends and neighbors to see if you can take turns sharing rides.

Grocery stores and warehouse chains often offer loyalty programs with gas benefits. Some have pumps with sometimes cheaper prices. Finally, never sit with your engine idling while waiting for someone.

Working Hard to Help Seniors Overcome Inflation

Here at Council of Seniors, we’re fully committed to getting Congress to pass The SAVE Benefits Act.  Rising inflation makes this bill a must. It’s needed because Social Security cost of living adjustments (COLAs) have proved inadequate in recent years. If it passes, seniors will be reimbursed $581.
