The 2025 COLA was announced on October 10, and much to many people’s dismay, the increase is set to come in at just 2.5 percent — making it the smallest cost-of-living adjustment since 2021.

Not surprisingly, people are already voicing complaints about how little this increase will impact their benefits. As new video from WCPO shows, many seniors are unhappy with the news and aren’t shy about sharing their displeasure. As one senior bluntly puts it, “I think it deprives us of what we deserve.”

Commenters on the video were quick to chime in, with one YouTube user saying, “We worked our lives with Social Security tax taken, for nothing in return.”

Another disgruntled citizen added, “This raise is a joke. Everything is sky-high now. Congress is already overpaid, but they still give themselves big raises and give seniors pennies.”

Clearly, Change Is Necessary

Low COLAs have been a reality for far too long. This is why Council of Seniors is convinced Congress must pass The SAVE Benefits Act. Seniors worked hard for years and are entitled to the benefits they were promised. If this bill passes, the amount of $581 will be returned to their pockets, where it belongs.
