Those who enjoy traveling by train are in for a real treat in 2026. Amtrak announced it will be unveiling new trains that will usher in a “new era in rail.”  The Amtrak Airo (pronounced arrow) will debut on the Northeast Regional, Empire Service, and The Vermonter lines next year. The California-made cars will offer a more pleasing experience for passengers.

With more modern and spacious interiors featuring panoramic windows, the new Airo will provide extra legroom, bigger tray tables, movable headrests, and seats with a cup holder and tablet holder, even in Coach. The trains will offer onboard Wi-Fi, individual outlets, USB ports, and enhanced lighting.

Café cars will also be upgraded to include self-service options. The new Airo will be more fuel-efficient and capable of reaching speeds of 125 miles per hour. Passengers with mobility devices and wheelchairs will find improved accessibility in both passenger and café cars.

Since its launch in 1971, Amtrak has tried to improve service and grow its business. The introduction of Airo in 2026 will put it at the forefront of sustainable transportation with modern design and world-class amenities.

Your Retirement Should Be Full of Adventures

More retirement income might open more travel options for seniors. That’s one reason why Council of Seniors is totally committed to getting Congress to pass The SAVE Benefits Act. The annual Social Security cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) just hasn’t met seniors’ needs in recent years. If this bill passes, the amount of $581 will be returned to seniors.
