Progress in medicine has provided Americans with a healthcare system that can deliver quality results depending on where you live. According to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, the average American spends $12,914 on healthcare annually. A Wallet Hub survey of all 50 states has identified the best and worst healthcare states in terms of cost, accessibility, and outcomes.
Here are the top five states for healthcare:
- Minnesota
- Iowa
- Rhode Island
- North Dakota
- Utah
Not surprisingly, the five worst states are extremely rural:
- West Virginia
- Mississippi
- Alaska
- Alabama
- Louisiana
Where you live makes a big difference in terms of how costly health care can be, your proximity to quality care, if you can access treatment when desired, and how those with serious health conditions might fare.
You Should Have What You Need in Retirement
You should have enough funds to get the healthcare you need. That’s one reason why here at Council of Seniors, we’re totally dedicated to getting Congress to pass The SAVE Benefits Act. The amount of $581 was withheld from seniors’ Social Security checks due to inflation. If this bill passes, that money will be returned.
