As people age, they might worry about losing mental sharpness. Fortunately, there are a range of brain games seniors can play to improve memory and other mental skills, such as problem-solving and vocabulary.

Caring Senior Service lists five popular ways to get some daily exercise:

Lumosity is an online subscription program that provides games to improve memory, attention, language, problem-solving, speed, and flexibility. It offers a free version to try before deciding to subscribe.

Researchers have identified 83 brain aerobic exercises that help “Keep Your Brain Alive.” They include ways to create new patterns for behavior and thinking.

Word puzzles are a popular way for many seniors to keep sharp and find some daily relaxation.  Crossword puzzles help seniors recall vocabulary and popular culture while learning new words.

Sudoku has taken off in popularity as a “pencil puzzle” game that involves critical thinking and problem-solving. Like crosswords, finishing sudoku provides a real sense of accomplishment.

The board game “Concentration” can provide fun for seniors and families. Its longevity as a favorite game makes it a great way to exercise the brain every day.

Council of Seniors Wants You to Enjoy Retirement More

Council of Seniors is hard at work to get Congress to pass The SAVE Benefits Act. This bill is needed to recover annual Social Security cost of living adjustments (COLAs) that should have been paid but weren’t. Seniors will be reimbursed the missing $581 once this bill passes.
