In the past few years, attendance at national parks throughout America has grown considerably as people take vacations closer to home or seek out national treasures on their bucket list. The National Park Service (NPS) began testing timed reservation systems to help limit congestion at the most popular locations and to improve the visitor experience.
Travel & Leisure reports the NPS will continue the reservation program in 2024 at five of its most popular parks:
- Arches National Park
- Glacier National Park
- Rocky Mountain National Park
- Yosemite National Park
- Zion National Park
Vacationers will be able to make reservations online by going to www.recreation.gov. The reservation system is typically free, but an online processing fee of $2 will be charged. Visitors to Yosemite will pay a $2 day-use reservation fee, and those going to Zion will be charged $3 per person for a permit.
By providing guaranteed arrival times, the NPS hopes to reduce congestion at peak hours, improve the overall visitor experience, and better protect our national landmarks. Travelers should check each park for when reservations can begin being made and operating times.
Council of Seniors Wants Social Security to Be Stronger
Seniors live with less worry with the cushion of additional income. That’s just one reason why Council of Seniors is dedicated to getting Congress to pass The SAVE Benefits Act. We need this bill because the annual Social Security cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) has shortchanged recipients, withholding the amount of $581 from their checks. That money will finally be returned if we can get this bill passed.
Signing our petition is the first step to take to help. Congress must understand how many Americans support this bill. Your help in returning this money to seniors will be deeply appreciated.
