With slides and monkey bars just steps away, seniors in Wichita, Kansas, have a playground of their own. According to a report by KWCH, the Get Active in Nature (G.A.I.N.) 60+ Exercise Park was designed with seniors in mind.
The outdoor exercise area features 11 strength and resistance exercise stations, five of which are wheelchair accessible. The equipment was designed to improve core strength, increase heart rate, improve strength, and maintain balance.
Although created for the 60-plus community, anyone can use the G.A.I.N. Exercise Park. There is no charge. It was paid for by funding from the Older Americans Act and the Kansas Department of Aging and Disability Services.
Representatives from the Sedgwick County Department of Aging and Disabilities say it’s a place where seniors can exercise and “interact with other people, socialize, maybe meet some new friends.”
Council of Seniors Wants to Support Older Americans
The Council of Seniors strives to help seniors stay in good shape physically and financially.
We are working diligently to get Congress to passThe SAVE Benefits Act. This crucial bill will put $581 back in retirees’ pockets to make up for Social Security cost-of-living adjustments that were far too low for years.
Sign our petition today to support our efforts. Congress has ignored the growing number of seniors expecting action for way too long.
