Seniors thinking about settling in a retirement community will find there’s a great deal to consider. You’ll want to find a community that can progress with your needs of care, from living independently to getting assisted care as you age.

Many active older adults like the recreational activity retirement communities offer. Others consider access to medical care critical. It’s best to consider any lifestyle limitations as well. Does the community allow pets, is outdoor grilling possible, or can you have a small garden?

Maintenance is another key consideration. If you purchase a condominium, how will repairs or basic maintenance be handled? Will a monthly fee cover it all or will you be responsible?

Once you decide to live in a retirement community, how do you choose the right one?

Two key factors are similar to those used for a house. What type of weather do you want to live in? Visit different areas to get a feel for what it’s like. Most importantly, affordability and your budget must be reviewed carefully.

You’re Entitled to Your Hard-Earned Money

Getting your fair share of retirement income is why Council of Seniors is trying hard to get Congress to pass The SAVE Benefits Act. There were a number of years when the Social Security cost of living adjustment (COLA) was barely increased – if at all. Seniors deserve a $581 reimbursement.

Please sign our petition today to help us show politicians in Washington why so many people support this bill. We really appreciate your support in getting seniors what they deserve.
