Community senior centers offer many benefits for seniors deciding to age in place instead of moving to a senior facility. Remaining at home doesn’t mean you have to feel isolated and lonely.

Senior centers offer a safe place to go to find companionship and meaningful activities. These community facilities are specially designed to meet the needs of those still living at home.

Depending on where you live, a senior center may provide possible amenities like light exercise facilities, rooms to host special events, affordable meals or coffee shops, hair cutting, or lounge areas for games and crafts.

Centers are generally designed with extra safety features such as wheelchair access, extra handrails, non-slip floors, ample lighting, and noise-absorbing walls.

Most importantly, they create the opportunity to forge new friendships and companionship that are so critical for a good quality of life.

Council of Seniors Wants You to Enjoy Retirement More

Here at Council of Seniors, we’re working tirelessly to get Congress to pass The SAVE Benefits Act. This bill is needed to overcome insufficient Social Security cost-of-living adjustments (COLAs) approved in some recent years. Once passed, seniors may be reimbursed the missing $581, which will help them get more out of retirement.

If you can sign our petition right away, you’ll join the growing number of Americans who want Congress to make this bill a priority.

Are you determined to stay in place as long as you can? Leave us a comment and let us know.
