If you’re a history buff, you have a treasure trove of historical cities to visit in the United States. They offer a celebrated past, stirring monuments, well-preserved landmarks, and tourist-friendly services. Each year, U.S. News & World Report features the best of the list, which is chosen in part by votes of the magazine’s readers.
Here’s the most recent list of the best historical cities:
- Washington D.C. (no surprise there)
- Boston, Massachusetts
- Gettysburg, Pennsylvania
- Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
- Williamsburg, Virginia
- Jamestown, Virginia
- Charleston, South Carolina
- Plymouth, Massachusetts
- New Orleans, Louisiana
- Salem, Massachusetts
Surprisingly New York, our largest city, didn’t make the list. Neither did the nation’s oldest city, St. Augustine, Florida. The top 10 only scratch the surface of many great places to visit and take in the rich history of the United States.
Council of Seniors Wants You to Enjoy Retirement
You should be able to travel where and when you please in retirement. Here at Council of Seniors, we work hard to help seniors enjoy life. We’re committed to getting Congress to pass The SAVE Benefits Act. The passage of this bill will help make up for insufficient Social Security cost-of-living adjustments (COLAs) that haven’t kept pace with inflation in recent years. If we succeed, seniors will be reimbursed the missing $581 that’s belonged in their benefit all along.
Sign our petition and get others to help, too.
