Many folks may think SUVs are best suited for families and outdoor enthusiasts. The fact is the newer midsize models make excellent vehicles for seniors because of their enhanced safety features and versatility.
A recent analysis by automotive experts has identified seven SUVs that offer seniors a great all-around driving experience. They focused on such factors as the available safety features that help drivers with aging eyes and slower reaction time.
Topping the list is the Toyota Highlander, which provides a powerful V-6 engine and seating for eight. It received a “top safety pick” rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).
Next was the Honda CR-V offering the best gas mileage at 34 mpg (highway). It also provides the best luggage and cargo room.
For those who might venture into the outdoors or have to deal with inclement weather, the Subaru Forester stands out with its all-wheel drive. Another SUV with the IIHS high safety rating is the Nissan Rogue, which also has wide doors for easy entry.
The Hyundai Santa Fe incorporates all the latest safety features and provides a large, easy-to-use touchscreen for its infotainment center. Another midsize option with outstanding safety features is the Ford Edge. Those seeking a little more luxury should check out the Volvo XC40, which has a top rating from the IIHS too.
More Money Makes Buying a New Car Easier
You deserve all of the money that’s entitled to you to spend as you please. That’s why here at Council of Seniors, we’re totally dedicated to getting Congress to pass The SAVE Benefits Act. In past years, cost- of-living adjustments (COLAs) were not sufficient, and $581 was withheld from seniors. It’s time for it to be returned.
