First-time home buyers may wonder when’s the best time to buy a house, and there are plenty of variables to consider. Real estate experts break down the pros and cons of each season when it comes to home buying.

The consensus is Spring is the best home buying season. As winter fades, the housing market heats up for both sellers and buyers. Realtors advise that mid-April is the best time to list a house. As more houses come on the market, Summer is when housing inventory is at its highest. Sellers have to contend with more competition, and buyers have more options.

For buyers, Fall can be a good time to purchase. Some think the first week in October is a good time since inventory may still be decent. With less demand, prices may tend to be slightly lower. Even Winter has its advantages for buyers. There’s little competition with other buyers, plus inventory may be slimmer, meaning the house of your dreams might not be out there. However, sellers might be more motivated to make a deal as the year winds down.

Senior Life Should Be Fulfilling

With extra retirement income, seniors will have less worry. That’s why here at Council of Seniors, we’re working tirelessly to get Congress to pass The SAVE Benefits Act. Because the annual Social Security cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) has shortchanged seniors in recent years, this legislation is critical. If it passes, $581 will be returned to senior citizens.
