If you’ve reached a point where living at home is becoming a little tougher, it might be time to consider moving to an assisted living community.
The typical assisted living community provides 24/7 support for meals, housekeeping, personal care, medication management, and social activities. Besides those basic services, some assisted living facilities may have salon services, physical therapy, exercise and wellness activities, transportation services, and personal care assistance, which are all things you’ll want to consider when choosing a community that’s right for you.
There are also many assisted living communities that provide different levels of service on the same campus. Depending upon the health and general condition of the resident, they can offer low, moderate, and high levels of care with the option of moving from one to the next without having to leave the facility altogether if circumstances change.
The cost will also come into consideration when deciding on the right community. Generally, monthly fees may range from $2,000 to $5,000, depending on the location and level of services provided.
You Deserve the Benefits You’re Entitled To
You can’t move to an assisted living community on Social Security alone, and you deserve all of the benefits you were promised. At Council of Seniors, we’re committed to getting Congress to pass The SAVE Benefits Act. Insufficient Social Security cost of living adjustments (COLAs) in recent years withheld $581 from seniors’ checks, which just isn’t right.
