Someone offering a helping hand

Most people look forward to the holiday season. But for seniors, it can turn into a time of stress and anxiety. The Silver Sneakers wellness program offers sensible ways to eliminate stress to get the most out of these festive times.

It’s natural for people to want to have the best decorations on hand and to gift shop for loved ones and friends, but it can prove exhausting. The first step is to set realistic expectations.

Focus on self-care during this time. Be sure to get enough rest and sleep. Eat well to keep your energy level up. It pays to slow down and take a deep breath now and then. Know your limits in terms of party commitments and what you eat and drink over the holidays.

Don’t bottle up your feelings if you feel stress and anxiety getting the best of you. Find someone you can confide in to vent. That will avoid any unpleasantness or family drama.

One way to brighten your mood and attitude is to do nice things for others. Acts of kindness and all these other steps will make the holidays much more enjoyable.

Council of Seniors Wants Stronger Benefits for You

Every little bit of money helps during holiday time. That’s just one reason Council of Seniors is firmly committed to getting Congress to pass The SAVE Benefits Act. Inadequate Social Security cost-of-living adjustments (COLAs) in some recent years makes this bill a high priority. If it passes, the sum of $581 will be returned to seniors.

Signing our petition is the first step to take to help. Let’s give Congress the wake-up call it needs so badly.
